Personal: Preparing my heart for revival

Wednesday, 22 October 2014

The words we use have tremendous power. The Bible says that life and death are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). Jesus' prayers were heard because of His reverent submission (Hebrews 5:7). Righteous living and right speech come from a right heart before God. Ask God to help you evaluate your speech as you read these verses from Proverbs 10:
A fountain of life - "The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked" (verse 11).
Discerning lips - "Wisdom is found on the lips of the discerning, but a rod is for the back of him who lacks judgment" (verse 13).
Holds his tongue - "When words are many, sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise" (verse 19).
Choice silver - "The tongue of the righteous is choice silver, but the heart of the wicked is of little value" (verse 20).
Nourishes many - "The lips of the righteous nourish many, but fools die for lack of judgment" (verse 21).
Brings forth wisdom - "The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom, but a perverse tongue will be cut out"
(verse 31).
Knows what is fitting - "The lips of the righteous know what is fitting, but the mouth of the wicked only what is perverse" (verse 32).

Testimony: Terrorism leads to Gospel curiosity

Wednesday, 22 October 2014

One colonel asked why Christians are reaching out to displaced people in Northern Iraq. It led to countless questions and eventually he accepted Christ. The colonel's experience was just one of many taking place in Iraq. In cities of refuge like Erbil for people displaced from their homes in other parts of Iraq, people are turning to Christ at a stunning pace. Tent churches are springing up in the makeshift camps. Under normal circumstances, mission strategies focus on how to proclaim Christ effectively, but the challenge now is keeping pace with the number who would receive Him. (Website: https://www.mnnonline.org/news/terror-group-inadvertently-creates-gospel-curiousity-iraq/). Pray for wisdom for the Christian workers to disciple the new believers in the Word of God. Pray for spiritual growth for new believers.

Spiritual Awakening: Evangelical Christianity in Morocco

Wednesday, 22 October 2014

In Morocco, the evangelical Christianity grows at the high rate of 4.6%, pray there will also be a steady growth of a strong missions vision. Pray that new believers will be properly discipled and exposed to the biblical mandate of reaching all nations with the gospel. Ask God for a spirit of faith and boldness to come upon these believers so they can defy the intimidating atmosphere around them and step out to proclaim the gospel in and outside Morocco. Pray for a generation of Holy Spirit filled Moroccans who will go north and south, east and west of Morocco as message bearers and that every theological, cultural, economic and spiritual obstacles to seeing this happen will be overcome. Social Justice: Young girls at risk

Wednesday, 22 October 2014

The United Nations estimates that, every year, 14 million girls are married as children. Niger, Chad, and Central African Republic are some of the worst places in this regard. Young, teenage Syrian refugee girls in Jordan are being married off to far older men because, given their circumstances, this is viewed by their families as the best option for them. And in South Sudan, a 15-year-old girl is more likely to die in childbirth than to finish school. (Website: https://www.mnnonline.org/news/pray-young-girls-risk-today/). Pray for the protection of young girls. Pray for parents to call on God for provision, guidance and wisdom on how to love and protect children. Pray for these older men to realise the pain, suffering and emotional trauma that they expose these young girls to. Pray for men globally to start praying and fathering others to become godly men who serve God wholeheartedly.

Salvation for the nations: Diwali Festival

Wednesday, 22 October 2014

Diwali is a time of celebration and renewal for Hindu's all over the world. In South Africa, festivals are held nationally throughout the provinces by various Hindu organizations. Diwali also introduces the Hindu New Year, with much festivity and celebration in Hindu homes. In India, the festival is celebrated over 5 days, and Diwali has become known as the 'Festival of lights' as many small clay lamps (known as "diyas") are filled with oil and lit to signify the triumph of good over evil. These lamps are kept burning all night in Hindu homes. Please pray for the Lord to show Himself to Hindus in South Africa and abroad. Pray for Christians to bring the gospel to Hindus and witness to them. http://en.wikipedia.org
