Personal: Preparing my heart for revival

Wednesday, 28 January 2015

Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Answer the following questions and come before God in prayers of confession and repentance. Do I confess my sin by name? Do I keep "sort accounts" with God (confess and forsake as He convicts)? Am I willing to give up all sin for God? (1 John 1:9). (Source: Seeking Him by Nancy Leigh DeMoss and Tim Grissom).

Testimony: Benin - Growing tolerance, reduced persecution

Wednesday, 28 January 2015

The 2015 World Watch List from Open Doors ranks 50 countries where persecution of Christians for religious reasons is most severe. The worst 10 are Muslim nations, yet Christians need to be aware that not all Muslim countries persecute Christians. Take the West African nation of Benin. It's one of 57 member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, the body which describes itself as 'the collective voice of the Muslim world.' Benin's president, Boni Yayi, was born into a Muslim family. However, he is now a devout Evangelical Christian. He worships at his local Pentecostal church, where he sometimes also preaches the sermon, and has expressed a desire to 'evangelise the world' when his presidential term ends in 2016. (Website: http://www.bosnewslife.com/). Praise God for touching the heart of a nation's leader. Pray that President Boni Yayi will seek God for wisdom and counsel on how to lead this nation. Pray that his personal walk with Christ will lead many others, even an entire nation to Christ.

Spiritual Awakening: The paradox of the rapid spread of Christianity in China

Wednesday, 28 January 2015

In China there are more Christians today than there are members of the 87 million-strong Communist Party. They grow by an average of 10% a year, which means there will be 250 million Christians by around 2030, making China's Christian population the largest in the world. While in the 1980s the faith grew most quickly in the countryside, in recent years it has been burgeoning in cities. A new breed of educated, urban and socially and economically active Christians has emerged. This rapid growth of the Church is forcing an official re-think on religion. In fact, the Party is even asking Christians for their help.
(Website: http://site.prayer-alert.net/images/read%20pa%20now.pdf). Praise god for the rapid growth of Christianity in China despite the ongoing persecution. Pray that their devotion to God and His love in the hearts will inspire others to let go of man made system and to seek the Kingdom of God.

Social Justice: Education

Wednesday, 28 January 2015

Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Pray for educators at all institutions to teach and instruct with patience and wisdom. Ask God to bind their minds to the mind of Christ, to teach in a way that will enrich and not impoverish lives.

Salvation for the nations: Boko Haram Threatens to Escalate Violence in Nigeria

Wednesday, 28 January 2015

A new video shows rebel leader Abubakar Shekau smiling broadly as he boasts, "We are the ones who fought the people of Baga." He claims God commanded the bloody massacre this month. Not only is Nigeria under siege by these radical Islamist insurgents, but killing has also spread into neighbouring Chad and Cameroon. Baga was supposed to be the headquarters of a multinational force to combat Boko Haram. Frustrated by its inability to stem the spread of violence, some government officials blame cowards in the military. Shekau further boasts, "This is just the beginning of the killings. What you have witnessed is a tip of the iceberg. More deaths are coming." Nigeria was once considered a strong Christian nation. God's people must unite in persistent prayer to confront this demonic force influencing the Boko Haram. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 6:12). Shekau ends his threat with, "Kings of Africa, you are late. I challenge you to attack me even now. I'm ready." People of God, stand united in spiritual warfare! (E-mail: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ). Please pray for: A spirit of confusion to confound the Boko Haram forces rendering them ineffective in achieving their goals of establishing an Islamic state in Nigeria. Boldness and confidence on the part of the Nigerian and multinational forces as they confront Boko Haram. Christian believers around the globe to unite in prayer for Nigeria and its neighbours who are threatened by Boko Haram. May believers plead with God to demolish this demonic force and deliver His people. Earnestly pray for the salvation of those involved in terrorist groups like Boko Haram. The little 'g' god of this age has blinded their eyes to the glorious Gospel.
