Personal: Preparing my heart for revival

Friday, 08 May 2015

Revival refreshes the spirit. Do you live with nearly constant pressure and anxiety? Have you discovered that the things you tend to turn to for relief neither satisfy you nor remove the stress? According to Acts 3:20, "Times of refreshing" come from "the presence of the Lord." What an apt description of revival! God invites us to come to His presence. There – and only there – will we find genuine rest. (Source: Seeking Him by Nancy Leigh DeMoss and Tim Grissom).

Breakthrough: Church growth in Nepal

Friday, 08 May 2015

When Nepal first opened to the outside world in 1951 there were only five known Christians. By 1970 the church had grown to about 500 believers, expanding to 25,000 by the early 1980s and 75,000 by 1990. No one knows for sure how many Christians are currently in Nepal because difficult terrain has isolated many areas, but we estimate that there are about one million believers. The level of religious freedom in Nepal has fluctuated over the years. The Christian church has faced persecution and harassment from both the government and society, but has enjoyed a period of calm for the last few years. (Source: Hadassah Watch). Thank the Lord for the growth of His Church in Nepal. Pray that many Christian relief workers will be sent into Nepal. Pray that Christians in Nepal and around the world would step forward with extraordinary, sacrificial love to show more clearly the mercy of Christ.

Spiritual Awakening: 10 days of intensified prayer

Friday, 08 May 2015

SA - 10 days of intensified prayer for a national spiritual awakening (14-24 May 2015)

In Acts 1, we read how the early church prayed for 10 days together in one accord. On the 10th day, God poured out His Spirit on the church. Thereafter, God did so again and again, which we see in Acts 4:3; Acts 8:15-16; Acts 10:44: and Acts 11:15. Over the last 2000 years, thousands of similar experiences have been recorded. Such outpourings of the Holy Spirit have without exception come as a result of prayer. A suggested theme is "Come, Holy Spirit!", but churches that want to use a different theme are free to do so. Churches are encouraged to create times of daily prayer where corporate prayer of one heart is offered up.

Consider, especially, setting up a prayer chain or prayer watch, where as much as possible, all 240 hours of the 10 days are allocated to prayer. Involve individuals as well as Bible study groups, ladies' groups, men's groups, prayer groups and youth groups etc. Ask individuals or groups to take prayer slots of 1-2 hours.

Social Justice: Neighbourhood, School & Worklife

Friday, 08 May 2015

Serve your neighbours spiritually by becoming a "Lighthouse of Prayer" via the following objectives:

Identify Five Neighbours (other Individuals in your Neighbourhood, School, and/or Worklife) to pray for.
Commit to pray for them five minutes a day, five days a week, for a five-week period.
Pray for them to be BLESSed in their:

Body (Health, Protection, Strength),
Labour (Work, Income, Security),
Emotions (Joy, Peace, Hope),
Social Relationships (Love, Marriage, Family, Friends) &
Spiritual Awareness (Salvation, Faith, Grace).(Website: http://www.servingourneighbors.org/prayer-initiatives.html).

Consider praying the following scripture for the individuals you have chosen: "For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. " (Colossians 1:9-12).

Salvation for the Nations: Praying for the IS-Group

Friday, 08 May 2015

We believe that God's heart is to bring ISIS members into the knowledge of his love and grace.

But Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest and
asked him for letters to the synagogues at Damascus, so that if he found any belonging to the Way, men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. Now as he went on his way, he approached
Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. - Acts 9:1-3
Jesus said "You have heard it said, 'Love you neighbour and hate your enemy.' But I tell you: Love your
enemies and pray for those that persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven." -
Matthew 5:44-45
Pray that the church throughout the world would follow Jesus' words to love and pray for their enemies.
Pray that the church wouldn't just sit back and watch a physical war take place but that they would fight
with the most powerful weapons: prayer, fasting and love. Saul was a perfect example of a man who
thought he was doing the will of God but was mistaken. Many of the ISIS members as well think they
are doing the will of God. Pray that, like Paul, they would see the light of Christ. Pray also that in the
presence of this light all darkness would have to flee. Pray that the light of Christ would expose all lies
and reveal Jesus. (Website: http://www.jwipn.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/30-Day-Prayer-Guide-for-i-s.pdf).
